Looking back on 2013. Where do I even begin to describe what has been the best year of my life? I should start off by saying thank you to all of you. Thank you for your support, your encouraging words and for being the number one reason I do what I do everyday. Although I don’t always have time to respond; no comment goes unread, no criticism unheard and no encouragement unfelt. It’s been a little over 3 years since I started my site and it’s truly become something I could have never imagined. I don’t think I had a day off from work this past year, but what a dream come true to be able to do what you love. I remember as a little girl my mom telling me the most important thing to being happy in life is to do what you love, and I think I can finally say I’ve made that happen.
For those of you that don’t know my story; I grew up in a small country town on the outskirts of San Diego county. Horses, dirt roads, no MTV, no clothing store or grocery store. I had no connections, no “way in”, no hand me outs. No magazine editor parents or TV producer aunts and uncles. Just your perfect average American family in a small town. The idea of moving to Hollywood, let alone New York and working in the fashion world was a dream so far out there, almost impossible. So to see I’ve come this far, I pinch myself everyday and a few tears fall as I write this.
I’ve sacrificed many things of course, and learned more this past year than my brain is probably capable of. I’ve also learned it’s scary- growing up, knowing who to trust, who has your best interests at heart. It’s been a long road to this point, and at times when I felt the whole world was against me I knew I always had you guys, and for that I’m eternally grateful.
Since 2013 is quickly coming to a close I thought I’d do a couple round-ups of this years best memories. First off travel- to say that I have been blessed this past year would be an understatement. I was able to visit many places I had only dreamed of. To look back at all these magical moments really makes me realize how lucky I am and I close my eyes and relive it all just for a few minutes.
