  • How To Get Big Sexy Hair

Our hair is our crowning glory, but what can you do when you have thin or fine hair and are trying to get that sexy Victoria’s Secret hair? I have pretty thick hair and it’s quite easy for me to get big hair, so I asked some hairstylists their tricks for thinner hair and what products they use to get big sexy hair. I think I have a great line-up for you and also some tips for creating lots of volume.

  • Root Boosters and Mousse

Fredric Fekkai Full Blown Volume Volumizing Mousse– a crowd favorite volumizing mousse helps lift your root for more volume.

Paul Mitchell Extra-Body Sculpting Foam gives a soft natural boost. Part hair and apply with fingertips to root area of damp hair.

Big Sexy Hair Root Pump is a spray on foam. Part hair and spray onto roots only of damp hair. You can also apply with your fingertips. This is pretty potent so avoid getting it on the rest of your hair.

  • The Tools

    1) Large 2 inch round brush.
    2) Vent brush
    3) 1 3/4 or 2 inch jumbo rollers. You may question the rollers but when I have a professional blow dry they use rollers. They give great lift and volume.

  • The Finishing Products

Bed Head Masterpiece Hairspray gives your hair incredible shine and all day hold. A fine mist after styling is all you need. Use a light hand with this since it a extra firm spray but you only need to apply it once.

Bumble & Bumble Thickening DrySpun finish- a personal favorite, also great for the days after as it works to soak up oil too.

Paul Mitchell Extra Body Firm Finishing Spray is very similar in hold to the Bead Head. I love that it comes in a smaller can that is easy for travel.

R+Co Outer Space Flexible Hairspray is wonderful is you want a light workable hairspray. It can be used multiple times without buildup. It smells amazing too.

Kerastase VIP Dry Volumizing Texturizing Spray is an great product for any hair type. After styling hair, spray this on your roots and tousle hair. Great for second day hair styling. It works as a dry shampoo and the invisible formula leaves no white residue. A must try for amazing volume.

  • Styling tips:

    1. After washing hair, apply your favorite heat protector to the ends only of your hair, tip head over and dry hair a bit, then apply a mousse or root boosting foam to the roots only. This will keep the rest of your hair from becoming heavy and stiff. Starting at the crown of your head, lift hair up with a vent brush. Blow dry the roots while lifting then hit with a cold shot. Keep pulling hair up away from the roots until the top is dry and you have the volume your want.
    2. When hair is 75% dry, section into 4 sections and use large round bush while blow drying. This will give you volume and shine. If you start this when hair is too wet it will take too long.
    3. When hair is dry take three large rollers and starting at the crown, roll them going back and away from your face so you have 3 large rollers on the top of your head. Put a light mist of hairspray at the base of your roots between each roller. (Use a lighter hairspray for this) You can add a few more rollers to the sides and back of your hair if your want.
    4. Blow dry rollers to make sure that all your hair is dry. Leave them in 5 or 10 minutes. Add texturizer to the roots. Tousle or brush and then a light mist of hairspray.

It may seem like a lot of work, but once you get the hang of it, it’s a breeze and you’ll have the most amazing volume ever!
