How to Juggle A Busy Life & Staying Fit

  • It’s much easier to stay healthy and fit when you have routine in your life. If you can get up and go to your local gym class at 7 am every morning before work, great! But when your job or lifestyle requires a lot of travel, or long unpredictable hours and nighttime events it can be really tricky. It’s hard to juggle a career, social life and healthy active lifestyle- so in anticipation of my event with luxury sportswear brand Athleta this Thursday night (all details below) I wanted to share with you some things I try to do that really help me!

  • 1) Jump rope- sometimes aka a lot of the time I don’t have time to go to my favorite gym class (boxing at Prevail) because it takes time to drive there and home etc. So on my busiest days I know I’m just going to have to make due wherever I am. It’s not so hard to spend 30 minutes outside your house before you shower in the morning. Jumping rope is amazing cardio and if you challenge yourself it’s very entertaining. Trying to learn new tricks, jumping faster, double jumping, cross jumping. The better you get the more things you learn do to. And the best part is you can do it almost anywhere, I bring a jumprope with me whenever I travel.

  • 2) Boxing- when I can’t make it to my class everyday there’s so many things I can do from home. Boxing isn’t always about strength or how hard you punch, it’s also about speed and technique. You can do everything from jogging in place while punching the air. To using a tree or pole and lightly punching as fast as you can. “Can’t make it to class today” just isn’t a good excuse!

  • 3) The weekends (or days off)- Don’t use the weekend as an excuse for a reason not to work out. “It’s the weekend I’m just going to relax”. No- that should be the reason you want to get some exercise- you have more free time, you aren’t stressed about work. Go outside and get fresh air, jog through your local park, hit your favorite gym class, hike with friends. The sooner you think about working out as something you love and something that makes you feel great, the sooner you’ll stop making excuses for why you don’t want to do it.

  • 4) The right clothes- I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. What you wear has so much to do with how you feel when being active. And sportswear is a huge trend in the fashion world so most of my “workout” pieces I actually incorporate into my daily lifestyle as well. Like this look today. It’s from one of my favorite sportswear brands, Athleta. I wore it lightly exercising in the morning, then straight to a meeting with my lawyer then out to lunch and no one even questioned me. I was actually complimented how on cool my outfit looked and multiple people asking me where I got the jacket.

  • About the event: This Thursday night (October 23rd) I’m hosting an event at the Athleta store at The Grove in Los Angeles from 6:30-8PM where I’ll really be sharing all my healthy tips, a lot more secrets, styling tips and more.     This post is so timely for me. With juggling my commute to work, taking classes and other obligations, it’s been really hard to find time for the gym. And, maybe I do need new workout clothes to motivate me :-)
