Best Products: Thick, Long Lashes

  • Who doesn’t want long, thick, beautiful lashes? There are so many great volumizing mascaras on the market today that except for special occasions, there’s no need for lash extensions or false lashes. There are lots of mascaras to choose from and everyone has their favorites. I have to admit I’m a sucker for trying new mascaras and I like to use different ones too mix it up a bit. Many people complain about volumizing mascaras saying they are too clumpy and messy. It’s all in the application so here are a few tips.
    1. Wipe off the brush a bit before applying, especially on the tip. This will help prevent clumping.
    2. Wiggle mascara back and forth into lash line and pull upwards and out towards the corner of your eye.
    2. Use a spoolie brush or comb to separate lashes if necessary.
    3. While mascara is still damp, look down, press lashes upward with your finger and hold for a few seconds.
    4. Some mascaras are quite wet when new. Let the brush air dry for a minute before applying during the first
    week or so of use.

  • Diorshow Maximizer: This serum primes, plumps and lengthens lashes. It’s made up of a cell conditioning complex  that promotes lash growth and strength. You can use this at night as a lash conditioner and under your mascara as a primer. As a primer, it dries fairly quickly and adds both volume and length to your lashes. Coat lashes with the primer then wait a few seconds to add mascara. Try one eye at a time until you get the hang of it. This is a great product for achieving dramatic, lush lashes and it works great with any mascara.

  • Le Volume De Chanel: This is a great mascara for when you want a dramatic effect. It thickens, lengthens and separates in a single coat. It doesn’t smudge or flake and holds curl well. The unique brush is a new design for Chanel and is a winner. It contains both long and short bristles to coat every lash. The formula is a little on the wet side so let the brush air dry for a minute before applying. Once mascara has aged a few weeks it’s the best. Love the colors too! The plum color looks amazing on hazel or green eyes.

  • Cover Girl Lash Blast: This is a drugstore favorite. The patent-pending brush is designed to max-out each and every lash for the ultimate big lash look. It really coats and defines each lash. Doesn’t clump or smudge and layers well with other mascaras. The waterproof version is great for lower lashes.

  • Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes:  This may be my favorite mascara at the moment. It’s the one I go to the most. I had the pleasure of interviewing Charlotte earlier this year and not only did she do my make-up but gave me some of her products to try. Her line is a huge international success and I’m so glad that it’s now available in the States. This mascara is so fast and easy to apply. The brush is perfect. It coats and separates lashes effortlessly. The formula creates thick full lashes, has all day staying power and doesn’t run if your eyes tear up. It’s kinda perfect!

  • Benefit They’re Real: It lengthens, volumizes, lifts and separates for an amazing open-eyed look. The brush is very unique with a custom tip, (sort of like a little bush) that lets you coat even the smallest lashes. The jet black formula has all day staying power. Some people complain that it’s hard to remove but I didn’t find this to be a problem using my daily facial cleanser. The formula is rather wet at first but is amazing after a few weeks.

  • Spoolie brushes are great for separating lashes and, of course Q-tips for mistakes.
